From May 22 to 24, 2024, the Hematology Center hosted an educational program for healthcare professionals specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML). The event was held at the Center’s branch in Karaganda, 17 Saken Seifullin Avenue.

The program brought together 12 doctors from various cities of Kazakhstan — Taldykorgan, Aktobe, Taraz, Shymkent, Pavlodar, Astana, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and Almaty — as well as international guests: Head of the Hematology Department at the High Technology Medical Center in Tbilisi, Prof. Nino Sharashenidze, and Head of the Hematology Department at the German Hospital in Tbilisi, Nino Seskuria. From the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Hematology in Tashkent, participants included the Head of the Scientific Department of Hemostasis Pathology and Deputy Chief Physician, Inna Viktorovna Berger, and the Chief Hematologist of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, Head of the Transplantation Department, Gulchekhra Zukhriddinovna Makhamadalieva.

Within the framework of the program, participants refreshed their knowledge on the following key topics:

Clinical features and diagnostic criteria of AML according to the 2022 WHO classification.

Genetic risk stratification based on ELN 2022.

Interpretation of flow cytometry and molecular genetic testing results, including FLT3 mutation detection.

Prognostic significance of FLT3 mutation and therapy selection in accordance with ELN 2022 and NCCN 2024 guidelines.

Adaptation of international recommendations to local clinical practice.

The Medical Director of the Center, Anton Anatolyevich Klodzinsky, highlighted the strong interest in the topic and the active involvement of all participants, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the laboratory and the clinic.

We sincerely thank all participants, speakers, and mentors for their active contribution to the program, which was aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of acute myeloblastic leukemia in our clinical practice.
