In Balkhash, the traditional Patient School of LLP “Hematology Center” was held in an unusual format: participants met the physician speakers in person.
The speakers were Irina Alekseevna Pivovarova, General Director of LLP “Hematology Center” and Head of the Public Association “Kazakhstan Society of Hematologists”; Anton Anatolyevich Klodzinsky, Medical Director of the Center, PhD in Medicine, hematologist with 18 years of experience; and Marina Sulikovna Cheyshvili, Head of the Center’s Patient Support Service.
“We resumed the in-person format after a long break,” explained Anton Klodzinsky. “The meeting was very engaging: in addition to medical questions, there were also many related to the social sphere.”
This year, LLP “Hematology Center” is adding new forms of training alongside traditional sessions. In the traditional format, not only the topics but also the content of the Schools are developed in advance. Twice this year, meetings were held in a Q&A format, which was enthusiastically received by participants, as it gave them the opportunity to gain not only general information about diseases but also details relevant to their specific situations.
The topic of the current meeting was open, not limited to a specific disease. Participants were able to ask any questions related to hematology. According to Marina Cheyshvili, Head of the Patient Support Service, there were many relevant and important questions:
“If patients had the chance, they wouldn’t have let the speakers go until the evening! Perhaps we should consider holding such Schools in other cities as well. They are needed not only by patients, but by us too.”
