Since January 1, 2020, Kazakhstan has introduced the Mandatory Health Insurance system.

WHAT YOU CAN RECEIVE FOR FREE – GOBMP

(Guaranteed Volume of Free Medical Care)

The guaranteed volume of free medical care includes:

• Emergency medical care, including air ambulance services;
• Primary health care, including diagnostics, treatment, preventive check-ups, sanitary and anti-epidemic measures, and sanitary-preventive measures in the centers of infectious diseases;
• Specialized outpatient care, including prevention and diagnostics of HIV infection and tuberculosis, emergency services, diagnostics and treatment of socially significant and chronic diseases;
• Specialized care in day-care settings, including treatment of socially significant and chronic diseases, and home hospital services;
• Specialized inpatient care, including treatment of infectious and parasitic diseases that are dangerous to others, or suspected cases;
• Provision of medicines, including medical devices and immunobiological preparations during emergency and specialized care, primary health care in accordance with the list of diseases covered by preventive vaccinations, and specialized outpatient care.

WHAT YOU CAN RECEIVE FOR FREE – MHIS

(Mandatory Health Insurance System)

Persons who are insured under the MHIS system have extended access to medical services under the mandatory social health insurance.

MHIS covers the following medical services:

• Preventive medical check-ups;
• Consultations with specialized doctors upon referral from a family physician/general practitioner;
• Ongoing follow-up care by specialists for patients with chronic diseases;
• Dental care (emergency and planned) for certain categories of the population;
• Diagnostic services, including laboratory tests, ultrasound, X-ray, CT, MRI;
• Specialized inpatient care, including high-tech medical services;
• Medical rehabilitation;
• Provision of medicines when specialized inpatient care is provided.
